Cloverfield not exactly what I expected
Rating: 6 out of 10
When I first saw the trailer for Cloverfield I immediately waited patiently for the release of the film. I mean with the name Cloverfield and the way it was promoted on television, I thought it would have a good plot behind it. There wasn't much to see when the trailers aired but the hype was huge. So when it hit the stands, with much excitement and long awaiting I picked up a copy at a local Best Buy. When I got home, I put it in and grabbed a big bag of chips and went at it.
To be honest, what was creating havoc in the city of New York was never focused in on as they barely showed it. This made me want to sit through the entire movie. My hopes was to catch just a glimpse of the terror causing evil. To put it gently, Cloverfield is a movie about a documentary of when something goes terribly wrong in the big apple. Typical plot. Typical acting.
The movie seems as if it is being recorded by a person in the movie so it gives it the third person feel of being included in the action. There was a lot of movement in the camera at times - enough to make one dizzy. At some points it was if I was watching a home movie shot by my four year old nephew.
