Seven simple ideas to improve healthcare

Healthcare Reform = Government Control

Healthcare is a major topic in congress today. There are millions of people without health insurance and millions more that are underinsured. All the comments I've read lately have been bashing the reform but it seems as though no one has any idea or suggestion on how to fix it. Here are some things that should wake a few people up.

1. No two people are alike

Your life is different than mine. The food you eat, the medicine you take. Some are healthy, some are sick. Some are rich, some poor. How do you create a system for all people when each is unique in their own way?

2. It is nearly impossible to become a doctor

With all the technology we have in the world, it doesn't solve the issue of education. Instead of trying to figure out how to reform a broken system, why not rethink it by making it easier for people to get into the industry? It takes an average of eight to twelve years to become a healthcare professional that actually has any power to help people. With all information becoming readily available online, there is no reason we can't equip more people with the appropriate knowledge necessary to become a doctor.

3. Universal healthcare should include strict diet plans

I eat healthy food and I don't get sick. We all know how to stay fit. Yet there are millions of people who continue consuming fatty foods that only worsens their situation. If I am going to pay for somoene else's healthcare, I should decide what goes into their body.

4. People will continue to do whatever they want

Doctors limit drugs to people they think need them. At the same time, doctors don't fully understand what the patient is going through. Sure, people take advantage of prescriptions, but if they don't get them, they will find some other way. It would be cheaper to monitor a drug addict than to spend more fighting the drug war.

5. Goverment healthcare will be the same as social security

As it stands right now, chances are, I won't see anything I've paid in. Why? The system is flawed. Why is the system flawed? Because people take advantage of it. Why should the loyal taxpayer foot the bill and receive the same care as one who isn't?

6. Lack of morals

People would rather sue than accept the cold hard facts. Doctors are human which means they too, make mistakes. Patients know, when going into surgery or some other form of treatment, there is a chance of failure. Yet they immediately seek financial gain when they were treated as everyone that came before them.

7. Financial gain comes before human life

The politics of it all are more important than the process itself. Who would want to become a doctor when they are paid minimum wage because everyone is a doctor? This is not only true in the healthcare industry, it is the way of the world. Where is there to go from here? It is the way of man to put his own financial future before the common good.

It starts with you. Are you out to make money off of your brother or sister? Or do you see that we have reached our limit as long as we look to help ourselves? How will you succeed if we, as a whole don't?

But who am I? I'm just another nobody.

I feel that only the wealthy can afford healthcare. Just the normal person, who takes excellent care of themselves, just doesn't have the money for the basic healthcare coverage. I am tired of the poor always getting the static... There are more rich people out there that can buy whatever they wish. Look at Michael Jackson as an example.

I'm also tired of all the crap the President has been taking about this. I agree. Something needs to be done about healthcare. I see an abuse of this system we now have. It has to change to get better. Why not stop the frivelous lawsuits for a Doctor to be able to actually practice medicine? That's what is is people - practice. If all the medical records are computerized, then it would stop alot of people getting illegal prescription drugs to sell on the street. As it stands now, people can go to endless Doctors and get whatever they want. I think it is time for a complete overhaul of the Healthcare system, as we now know it..... It might be the best thing this world has ever seen.

At least the President has balls enough to even TRY to change this greedy and corrupt system !!!!!!

As a licensed Insurance agent I've seen every side to the healthcare debate. I find it laughable that anyone would feel that only rich people can afford healthcare. Many of the people that claim this are the same people that choose their beer and cigarettes and fast food over obtaining healthcare. There are numerous plans out there that are affordable and are tax deductible under the right circumstances. Perhaps next time do more research instead of throwing out cliche statements. I am fortunate to have the best healthcare plan there is due to my employment with AK Steel. Before that I had to purchase my own plan and I sacrificed certain luxuries in order to do so. Its all about choices as nothing is free.
