To do list: The earth
With topics arising from all over, I find most people don’t know what is important. There's $4 gas, healthcare, security and other history making changes that are going to take place in the upcoming years. Now, our two presidential candidates are busy at work trying to earn your vote but where exactly do they stand on waste management, energy, water purification, food production and global warming? Do you see a pattern of true importance here?
I finally grabbed up some cloth shopping bags to take with me when I go to the store. They were plain blue with no logo; just my type. As I was checking out, the kid running the cash register snickered about my purchase. I asked him what he was laughing at and he denied poking fun of my shopping bags. He is a 18 year old kid granted, but I would hope he has some thought about what footprint his actions have for the rest of the world.
Gas guzzling oil companies and money hungry politicians
I see commercials about what oil companies are doing for the future but they all seem a bit fishy to me. In the end, they go back to what they've always known and are just finding new ways to use the same old Texas Tea. They insist they are investing billions, but come on, I could invent a revolutionary energy source with a billion dollars! In just a few years, I could have a team ready for a journey to the center of the earth and costing under a billion.
What a waste!
Forever in a landfill is right! I remember when we used to visit the grocery store every so many days to refill on bottled water. There were so many bottles going into the garbage, I could use them as vials for my fuel research! Billions of dollars - don’t make me laugh. I began to comprehend the amount of trash we were compiling with water bottles alone, much less the rest of it all. We finally discovered the Pur water pitchers with the two month filter. With well water and our purification system, our water is the best thing we have ever done.
Eight cups of water a day?
This is what we've all heard throughout our lives and it does do us well if we follow it. However, billions of people do not have access to clean drinking water. There are new technologies out there for making water safe to drink but we must expedite the production and distribution of these advances.
The struggle between gas and food
Fuel for burning or food for living - let’s flip a coin! Are we to the point where we have to choose between luxuries and life? Experts predict that by 2030, there will not have enough food for everyone. While some people worry about filling their tank, others can't afford to feed their families. Something has to give. Let's get the farmers back into growing. Shed your laziness! Get out there and grow your own food or invent a new fuel! You can do it!
Global warming is real
As much as you don't want to believe true facts, it is happening right before your eyes. Can we do something to reverse this process or is it too late? If we begin to mass produce wind and solar energy, will it generate more greenhouse gases that will make the situation worse? With record tornadoes, flooding, earthquakes and hurricanes, who can pretend to be mentally unstable and ask why?
Conclusion
As you can see, there are more important issues than people are viewing as important. People are too concerned about what celebrities are doing and other time wasting hobbies. Why do 200 million people vote for the next America Idol but fail to vote for president? Parents run off and fight to buy tickets for their child to see a fifteen year old girl singing and dancing. I'm sure it broke the bank but they default on their mortgage and want to cry to the government for help.
It's time to stand up and become a survivor. There won't be an economy if there is no place for it. Learn not to rely on help anyone. Make yourself known and speak your mind. Don't be led by the tube which captures the attention of many!

Scott, I think you need to slow down a little. You got a little confusing near the end. Everything ran together.
For years the complaint was "pollution." So we worked extra hard to clean up our act. Now what plants are left spew clean steam and carbon dioxide, perfectly safe for the air.
And NOW the environmentalists "discovered" global warming (from the same scientists that gave us "the coming ice age" in my youth). Now "harmless" carbon dioxide (food for the plants) becomes dangerous to the survival of the earth! No wonder plants moved overseas to where the rules are different. Now we try to make half the world's population (China and India) live by our rules. The atheists and the animists don't think like the theists of the west!
Yes, we can, and probably should, attempt to reduce the amount of carbon-based fuels we use. But what difference will it make when we are out-numbered three to one by those who will not go along? I have written on my doubts of the "dangers" of global warming on my blog. Go there and search the site. Get back with me on what I wrote there.
I find it funny as a 28-year-old man calls an 18-year-old a kid. How much "wisdom" can you pick up in ten years? :-)
