Majority of the web sucks or is it just me?

My friends, I do not know about you, but being in the design industry for years and years, I have come to a point where I am critical about what I visit. Remember when every website was black text on a white background and nothing else what so ever? Sure, the web has advanced in appearance since then but too many people create sites that will never do thier job simply because they are not appealing and the have put no effort into the content they produce.

I've always believed most websites sit around and grow dust because the owner does not properly market it. So I guess there are two sides to this saga. Some people care only for design while others lack creativity and you end up with a bunch of eye crossing text. Another type of site that is among the most unattractive would be duplicates that sprout from a great idea. Websites like Digg, Stumbleupon and more quickly find themselves with clones almost overnight. When a good idea finds its way to the web, the rest of the world is there to exploit it and make money off it. I wouldn't call that fair game.

With sites as far as the right index finger can click, the majority of it should have never been made public. But who am I except a nobody on this large rock?

So here goes nothing. Spend the extra money or dedicate more time to making your site a pleasant place for people to visit. If your site looks like it was created in the stone ages, for example, you have a school teacher look-alike holding a sign with text generically overlayed in photoshop, you need an update. If text scrolls left to right instead of up and down, you might want to think about a face lift. If your logo isn't clickable, make it that way.

If you would like feedback about your web site, Webbviews is a review and suggestion system designed to pinpoint improvements as well as compliment those with a good eye for design.

I can't stress enough how important it is for your site to look clean and professional. Unclutter a busy homepage or at least add some real artwork that was custom made for your site! Be unique. Then come ask me to buy from you.
